Source hierarchy
We begin with primary sources such as official records, company filings, governing bodies, public statements and first-party biographies. Strong secondary reporting may be used to add context.
Names and identities
Writers check spelling, professional roles and relevant relationships against dependable sources. Similar names and unverified social profiles are treated cautiously.
Numbers and estimates
Net worth, audience size, salary and valuation figures are often estimates. Articles should identify the source, date and limitations rather than convert estimates into facts.
Images and captions
Captions and alternative text should identify only what can be reasonably established. Images are not evidence for private relationships, motives or events outside the frame.
Pre-publication review
Editors review the central claim, headline, supporting links and obvious contradictions before publication. High-risk claims may require more than one reliable source.
